Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the first day of the 2006-2007 school year.  I hope you all had a great summer and are looking forward to an even greater year.  I am excited about taking on the job as PTO president this year and look forward to working with each one of you in some way or another. 

As a PTO our mission remains threefold:

 

Ø      Fundraising – each year we raise funds from carefully selected fundraising initiatives like our QSP Magazine Sales.  We plan on adding an Omaha Steak Fundraising Sale in the Spring.  We hope to raise funds this year to purchase Smart Boards, TV/DVD sets, Picnic Tables, and overall Campus Beautification.

 

Ø      To mobilize parent volunteers – the PTO is composed of parents and teachers who are committed to enhancing the quality of our school.  We would like to encourage all of you to become involved in some way or another. 

 

Ø      To offer social events which will serve to foster a sense of community and school spirit. 

Included in this packet are a number of important forms we would like you to complete and return to us by August 25, 2006:

1.        PTO Membership Dues Form - please support the PTO with a $10 donation per family.  Though any donation is appreciated and will be used to offset the costs of our PTO sponsored events and activities, the payment of dues is voluntary. With this donation, you will receive a Student Directory.  In addition to getting a Student Directory, this membership donation allows you to be eligible to vote and run in PTO elections. This $10 contribution will be the boost we need to begin scheduling this year’s programs and assemblies.  Other fundraisers throughout the year help us to continue planning new events up until the final week of school.

2.        PTO School Directory Form.  Please complete this form to authorize to be printed in the WJHS Student Directory.

3.        PTO Volunteer Form.  There are many opportunities for parent involvement. Some of the committees require a very small time commitment.  If you’d like more information about a specific committee, please call the PTO President or Vice President.  There are also some key committee chair positions available at this time.
