I grew up here in Wimberley and attended first through eighth grades with Mr. Bowen as my principal. We were bused to Hays Consolidated for high school. Upon graduation from Southwest Texas State University, I began teaching second grade here in Wimberley. Mr. Bowen was still the principal, and many of my former teachers became my mentors and colleagues. My experience includes having taught second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades over the past thirty-four years. This year begins my thirty-fifth year of teaching and my seventh year of teaching sixth grade at WJH. My son, Casey, is a 2005 graduate of WHS. He is in his second year at Sul Ross State University in Alpine. I feel very blessed to have taught and lived in Wimberley all of these years!

This will be my 16th year of teaching and my 4th year in Wimberley ISD. I have taught 3rd through 8th grade. I transferred from Bowen to Wimberley Junior High this year. I graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1984. I attended SWT for 3 years and then married my sweet husband Jerry Guidry. We then attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where we both graduated. I received my BS in Elementary Education with a Reading Specialization. My family and I moved to Wimberley from Katy, Texas in 2002. We have two children, Blake and Paige. Blake is a 7th grader and Paige is in the 5th grade.

What a blessing it is to live and teach in Wimberley! I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Danforth team and teaching Science is a dream come true for me. This is my third year to teach 6th graders at Danforth, and my 14th year to teach overall. I am also the junior high cheerleader sponsor. Go Texans! Prior to teaching at Danforth, I was a first grade teacher at Scudder Elementary and a 4th grade teacher at Bowen Intermediate School.
Many years ago, I graduated from Southwest Texas State, where I earned my Elementary Ed. Degree with a Specialization in Science and Reading. Before moving to the Hill Country, I taught 3rd graders in Mesquite I.S.D (my old alma mater) for 5 years.
I am married and have twins, Callianne and Carter, who attend school in the district. My family is very important to me, and I try to juggle between being the best mom, wife, and teacher that I can be! My extended family includes one Palomino, a Tobiano Paint horse, a herd of commercial cattle, one sweet Golden Retriever, and a frisky feline.

I would like to welcome all the students to a new year at WJHS. I am excited about teaching 6th grade and 7th grade science this year. I graduated high school from Wimberley Danforth Campus in 1989. I earned a B.A. degree in Anthropology and a minor in Psychology from SWTSU in 1993. I hold a 4-8 science certification from TSU.
This is my fourth year to be teaching at the junior high, and my second year with the science department. I have two classes left before I receive my Masters in Education with a specialization in science.
My husband Rick and I have been married for 15 years, and we have two daughters that are 13 and 10. We moved away from Wimberley in 1993, but were so glad to move back home in 1998.
I am looking forward to spending a year with your child and being able to show them that science is all around us. We are going to have a fun filled year doing science.
Math
Suzanne Mebane

This is my third year with WISD and it is a joy to work here! I am currently teaching 6th grade math. My previous teaching experience includes 7 years in the math and science department at St. Stephen’s School in Wimberley, 10 years in the science department at Canyon Middle School in New Braunfels, and 1 year in the science department at Flatonia High School. I was born and raised in San Marcos. Texas A & M is where I chose to get my college degree. Whoop! I have been married for 21 years and we have two children, one in high school and one in college. We have snakes, peacocks, chickens, goats, cows, dogs, and cats on our 50 acres.
Math
Carol Sue Merkin

I am so happy to be a part of Wimberley ISD! I was raised in San Antonio, and in 1972 I married Randy Merkin, whose family had property in Wimberley. We spent every weekend and holiday in Wimberley all of those years, and it had always been our dream to make Wimberley our permanent home. That dream became a reality in 2002 when a portion of the Merkin family ranch became ours.
I have taught at the junior high level for 17 years. This is my second year to be teaching 6th grade math at Wimberley Junior High. I feel so blessed and privileged to teach at such a wonderful school, and in my own hometown!
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics, with a minor in Science. I taught science for many years, and then returned to college to get my teaching certificate in math. I have 4 children, three children-in-law, and one granddaughter. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time at our home, with my family, swimming, and riding horses.

I'm excited to be starting my second career as teacher/coach, my first career was as RN. I have 23 years experience as a Trauma RN, so needless to say there is not to much that I haven't had the opportunity to see, hear or smell. In August of 2003 I graduated with my second degree from Texas State and began the Masters program in secondary education that same year.
This will be my second year here at Danforth and I’m looking forward to many more. The students and the staff are wonderful to work with.
I have four girls and just one husband (He is a saint). Three of my daughters are in school here and I have one in college. (yeah)
I teach 6th grade World Cultures and coach middle school volleyball, basketball and high school softball.
